Messaging

Updated 2026-08-26

Messaging is the engine's own voice — the handful of automatic messages that run your customer communication without you: "five transactional messages, one contact engine."

Find it: Setup → Messaging.

(What the emails say is edited in Communication → Email Templates; whether texts send is governed by Communication → Text Messages. This page decides which automations run.)

Column 2 — Channels

The defaults per channel: Email opt-in and SMS opt-in — what a new customer's consent starts as. Email marketing defaults on; texting is opt-in by design.

Column 3 — the automations

Each with its own switch and timing:

  • Welcome email — the first hello when someone new arrives.
  • Booking messages — confirmation on booking, and the before-the-booking reminder, including the arrival ask ("Please arrive ten minutes early" — the Ask guests to arrive lead time is yours to set).
  • Abandoned checkout nudge — the timed email that carries the exact pay link back to someone who stopped mid-checkout. Watch it work on Catalog → Cart's Left behind column.
  • The waiver chase rides payment automatically — the unsigned are pursued the moment the money lands.

Column 4 — Good to know

The rules the engine follows — consent gates every send, and texts respect quiet hours.

Common jobs

  1. Leave them on. These five messages are the "runs itself" part of the product — each one you disable becomes a job a human has to remember.
  2. Tune the reminder timing to your no-show pattern: day-before for appointments, a few hours ahead for events.
