Insights

Insights is the page for patterns — the header says it plainly: "People, bookings and demand — money reporting lives in Square." It shows you the funnel Square can't see: chats, leads, bookings and when people actually turn up. For sales, refunds and payouts, open your Square dashboard — Insights deliberately doesn't duplicate that report.

Find it: Essentials → Insights. The page runs full-width — no list or detail columns, just the report, top to bottom.

The range chips — Today · 7 days · 30 days · 90 days · Custom

The row of chips under the title sets the window for the four tiles directly below it (Custom opens from/to date pickers). The sections further down have fixed windows of their own — the Activity chart plots by day, and the three demand sections always read the last 90 days — so changing the chip changes the tiles, not the whole page.

The four tiles

Bookings, New customers, Leads and Chats, each counted over your chosen range. Under each number is the trend: "+4 vs prior 30 days" compares against the same-length stretch before it (or "vs yesterday" on Today). If the business is younger than the window, it says "first 30 days" instead of inventing a comparison.

Activity — one metric at a time

A day-by-day chart that shows one metric at a time — the arrows flip between takings, bookings, customers, merch, leads and chats. It also advances on its own every few seconds; the dots underneath show which slide you're on, and hovering any bar shows the exact day and value. Takings appears here as a day-by-day pulse — the accounting-grade version stays in Square.

When people come

A grid of when booked visits actually start, in your timezone — the last 90 days. Days of the week down the side, hours across the top. The deeper the tint, the more bookings start in that hour; an empty cell means none did. Hover any cell for the exact count ("Mon 6p — 4 bookings").

This is the true shape of your demand — read it before you change opening hours or write a staff rota.

Top offerings

Your offerings ranked by bookings taken, last 90 days — what actually sells, not what you think sells.

Lead pipeline

Every lead of the last 90 days, by where it stands — a bar per stage with its count. A pile-up in one stage tells you where follow-up is stalling.

At the bottom of the page: your repeat customers percentage, and the reminder that sales, refunds and payouts live in your Square dashboard.

How to use it

  1. Set the range first. The chips re-cut the four tiles; everything below has its own fixed window.
  2. Planning hours or a rota? Read When people come — it's start times, in your timezone, from real bookings.
  3. Filling quiet hours? The empty cells in that grid are the hours to aim a promo code at (built on the Promotions page).
  4. Deciding what to push? Anything living at the bottom of Top offerings for a season is a candidate to rework or retire.
  5. Chasing money numbers? Stop here and open Square — that's the deal: Insights owns demand, Square owns money.
