Memberships

Updated 2026-08-26

Memberships turn your regulars into recurring revenue. A plan is priced once, sells from your site, and bills itself — the card is charged automatically each cycle without an invoice or a reminder from you.

Find it: Catalog → Memberships.

Column 2 — Plans

Your list of plans; pick one to work on it. The editor then splits into two tabs: Plan is the product, Members is the people on it.

The Plan tab

  • Name, Type and Price with Bills — what it costs and the billing cycle.
  • Credits — for visit-pack style plans: how many visits or sessions the plan includes. Credits burn down as they're used and show on the member's record.
  • Member discount — a percentage off for members, "applied at checkout, every time," on whatever you make it Redeemable on (Everything, or a narrower set — "leave on unless you want to restrict it"; the discount is "applied to everything else at checkout").
  • Summary and benefits — one benefit per line; this is the plan's sales pitch on your site.
  • Web address — the plan's page URL on your storefront.

The Members tab

Everyone on the plan and their state — including Past due, which is where a failed card lands instead of silently lapsing, so the desk catches it at their next visit.

Column 4 — How it bills

The billing model, explained where you set it: the card is vaulted with Square at signup and charged automatically each cycle into your own Square account. Failed payments retry and flag the member as past due so the desk catches it at their next visit.

Common jobs

  1. Launch a membership: price it, set the cycle, write the benefits, Save — then link its web address anywhere you like.
  2. Sell ten-packs: make a plan whose value is its Credits; the pack sells online, attaches to the customer, and burns down per visit — no punch cards.
  3. Handle a failed card: the member shows Past due. When they're next in, take an updated card; billing resumes on the plan's cycle.
Members book like anyone else — the membership zeroes or discounts the price at checkout. The 5% platform fee applies to a renewal only when it actually bills.
