Cart

Updated 2026-08-26

Cart is two things on one page: the settings for how your shop's checkout behaves, and the list of carts people abandoned before paying — your cheapest recoverable revenue.

Find it: Catalog → Cart.

Column 2 — Left behind

Every cart a customer built and walked away from, with what was in it and when. "No carts left behind" is the goal; anything listed is a sale that nearly happened. The automatic recovery nudge (a timed email carrying the exact pay link) is configured on Setup → Messaging — this column is where you watch it work.

Column 3 — Merch & shipping

The checkout rules for physical goods:

  • Flat shipping — one shipping charge, charged once per order, not per item.
  • Free shipping over — the order total where shipping becomes free. Blank to always charge.
  • Offer a promo code or gift card in the cart — whether the cart shows a code entry box. Leave it on if you run promotions; turn it off for a cleaner checkout.

Column 4 — How the cart works

The explainer for the flow: the bag travels with the visitor across your site, checkout charges through your own Square account, and orders land with the rest of your records.

Common jobs

  1. Set shipping once: flat rate + a free-over threshold covers most shops. Locals picking up in store? Set the flat rate to zero.
  2. Watch Left behind weekly: if the same product keeps getting abandoned, the price or the shipping is usually the reason.
  3. Codes and gift cards themselves are created on Catalog → Promotions — this page only decides whether the cart asks for them.
