Text Messages controls your texting — the highest-open-rate channel you have, run with the manners that keep it that way: real consent, and quiet hours.
Find it: Communication → Text Messages.
Column 2 — Texting
Your texting at a glance — the number your messages send from, and the channel's state.
Column 3 — which texts go out, and when they may not
Each automatic text has its own switch:
- Booking confirmation — "the moment a booking is made, with the reference."
- Appointment reminder — ahead of the visit, so the no-show quietly stops existing.
- Form auto-reply — instant acknowledgement when someone submits a form that collected text consent.
And the rule that governs all of them:
- Quiet hours — texts composed during the quiet window hold and send when it lifts. A 6am booking gets its confirmation at a civilised hour; nobody's phone buzzes at midnight because someone booked late.
There's also a Reminders only posture if you want texting kept to the single most valuable message.
The consent rule
"Each one still needs the customer's yes." A text goes only to someone who has opted in (at booking, on a form that asked, or on their customer record) — or who is replying in a conversation they started. An email address on file is never permission to text. Replies of STOP are honoured automatically.
Common jobs
- Turn on reminders first — it's the message that pays: reminder sent, customer shows.
- Collect consent where people already are: switch Ask about texts on in your forms (Communication → Forms) and at booking, and the opted-in list grows itself.
- Set quiet hours to your customers' evening, not your own schedule.
