Settlements is the other direction of money — not what customers paid you (that's Transactions), but what's owed to the platform: a monthly statement you can read line by line.
Find it: Other → Settlements.
Column 2 — Months
One statement per month. Pick a month to open it.
Column 3 — the statement
The month's lines, itemised:
- The platform fee on card takings settles automatically with each Square payment — 5% of the sale, never of the sales tax — so it appears here as already handled.
- Cash takings can't carry an automatic fee, so the month's cash gets its 5% line here.
- Add-ons — anything extra on your account, like the AI receptionist, appears as its monthly line.
- Adjustments and notes — a line can be removed where warranted, and the month carries a notes field: "anything worth remembering about this month."
Column 4 — How the money works
The model in plain words: your money stays in your Square account; the platform's share is the 5% of each sale (never of tax), taken with the payment where possible and settled here where it isn't.
Common jobs
- Monthly read: open the closed month, check the cash line against your own till figures, done.
- Question a line? Raise a Support ticket naming the month and the line — statements are itemised precisely so this conversation is short.
